On Sunday, 13th July for the first time in history, the major Carfin relic of St. Thérèse of Lisieux from Scotland visited Ireland.
This cherished relic — the heel bone of the Little Flower — was a personal gift from the Carmelite Sisters of Lisieux to Canon Thomas Taylor, founder of Carfin Grotto and tireless apostle of St. Thérèse. This sacred occasion marked a profound moment of spiritual unity between Carfin Grotto and Knock Shrine, and between Scotland and Ireland, in honour of one of the Church’s most beloved saints.
The pilgrimage Sunday was organised by the St Thérèse International Day. The origins of the day stem from the friendship of Sheila O’Toole & Róisín O’Toole who both have an incredible devotion to St Thérèse.Their devotion is rooted from 2001 when the relics of St Thérèse first arrived in Ireland from France.
“We believe Saint Thérèse’s simple doctrine and her ‘Little way of Love’ is the guide and hope that every heart in the world needs now”
